/ads plan

Build channel, campaign, budget, competitor, and measurement plans

Claude Code
/ads plan

Installed as a plugin? The same command is namespaced: /claude-ads:ads plan

What it does

A professional paid-advertising strategy built from first principles: objectives, economics, platform selection, campaign architecture, audiences, budget, creative system, measurement, experiments, and rollout. Designed for teams who need a plan that survives contact with a real account.

Use it to

  • Build a media plan for a new product, market, or budget
  • Decide which of the twelve platforms deserve budget and which to exclude
  • Design campaign architecture and audience strategy before anything launches
  • Phase a rollout across prerequisites, launch, learning, optimization, and scale
  • Turn audit findings into a structured advertising roadmap

How it works

  1. Load context

Reads the setup profile, economics, evidence, current account state, and any relevant industry template.

  2. Define the problem

Objective, customer, offer, conversion, value, constraints, geography, regulated category, time horizon, and success criteria.

  3. Evaluate channels from first principles

Assigns channel roles and exclusions on merit. No platform is included just because it is supported.

  4. Design the system

Campaign architecture, audiences, creative system, budget and pacing, measurement, experiments, policy controls, and operating cadence.

  5. Phase the rollout

Prerequisites before launch, then learning, optimization, and scale, in that order.

  6. Assign ownership

Every action gets an owner, timing, dependency, guardrail, evidence, success measure, and a rollback or exit condition.

Reads & produces

What it reads

  • The setup profile with business economics and constraints
  • Prior audit evidence and current account state, when available
  • Objective, customer, offer, conversion definition, and value
  • Geography, regulated categories, time horizon, and success criteria
  • An optional industry template as a starting point

What it produces

  • A canonical JSON plan plus a rendered human-readable version
  • Channel roles and explicit exclusions with reasoning
  • Campaign architecture, audience strategy, and a creative system
  • Budget, pacing, measurement, experiment, and governance design
  • A phased rollout where every action has an owner, guardrail, and rollback condition

Guardrails

What /ads plan will and will not do, by contract. These boundaries are enforced in the skill itself, not left to judgment.

  • A plan is advisory. It becomes an account change only through the launch or optimize mutation gates, never on its own.
  • No platform quota: the plan does not have to include every supported platform, and exclusions are stated with reasons.
  • Channels outside the twelve-platform contract return a research lead instead of a recommendation unless current buying, eligibility, measurement, and creative evidence is present.
  • Every planned action carries an owner, guardrail, and rollback or exit condition, so nothing ships as an unowned idea.

Questions

Will the plan push me toward using all twelve platforms?

No. Channel roles and exclusions are evaluated from first principles, and the plan explicitly does not require every supported platform. Excluding a channel with reasons is a valid outcome.

Can the plan cover a platform Claude Ads does not support natively?

It returns a research lead for channels outside the twelve-platform contract unless current buying, eligibility, measurement, and creative evidence for that channel is already present. It will not guess.

Does approving a plan change my accounts?

No. A plan is advisory by contract. Turning any part of it into a live change goes through the launch or optimize draft-and-approve gates.
